William M. “Bill” Dagen, 87, of Brownstown, IL, formerly of Cowden, IL, passed away at 5:50 p.m. on Monday, November 16, 2020 at the Lutheran Care Center in Altamont, IL.
Bill was born on February 10, 1933, in Tower Hill, the eldest of three children to Loren and Mable (Burris) Dagen. He was proud to have served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Bill and Alice Brady were united in holy matrimony on August 20, 1960 and were blessed with 35 years of marriage before her passing on April 14, 1996. Bill worked for and retired from Caterpillar in Decatur. He was an avid tractor and farm machinery collector. Bill spent most of his life in Shelby County, but as his health deteriorated, he moved to Brownstown in 2011 to be close to family.
Surviving are sons: Jim (Sherri) Dagen and John M. Dagen, both of Brownstown; daughter, Lorraine Dagen of Effingham; grandchildren: Nathian (Becky) Dagen and Becky (Patrick) Rhodes, both of Brownstown; great-grandchildren: Kyle Hardiman of Beecher City, Chandler and Collin Dagen, both of Brownstown and Roxy Rhodes of Brownstown; sister, Janet (Ron) Prosser and their family, all of Shelbyville.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, wife and brother Carl Dagen.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, private family services will be held in Fairview Cemetery in rural Brownstown. Memorials may be made in Bill’s name to the Fairview Cemetery, %Laura Feezel, 370 W. Cumberland Rd., Brownstown, IL 62418. Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Cowden is assisting the family.
