Thomas Maxedon

Thomas Maxedon, 87, of Mattoon, IL, formerly of Oakland, IL, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 17, 2022, in his residence. 

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2022, in Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home in Windsor, IL with Reverend Richard Eident officiating.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.  Burial will take place in Windsor Cemetery.  Per Tom’s request, memorials may be made to his grandchildren’s college fund in care of Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home, 207 N. Oak, Windsor, IL 61957.  Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Tom was born on July 25, 1934, in rural Windsor, IL, the son of Elnore (Krummel) and Wayne Maxedon.  Tom married Mary Jane Hoisington on February 9, 1980, in Las Vegas, Nevada.  She survives along with son, Brett Maxedon (Alicia Wagnon) of Aubrey, TX, daughter, Amanda (Brendan) Aydt of Mattoon, IL, son, Danny (Lisa) Maxedon of Oakland, IL, son, David (Cindy) Maxedon of Liberty, TX and son, Ron (Stefanie) of Southlake, TX; grandchildren:  Grayson Maxedon, Maria, Conor and Luke Aydt, Misty Lalumendier, Jeremy, Caleb and Corey Maxedon, Rachel Maxedon, Stephanie Jones, Hannah Key, Lexie Turner and Alan Maxedon; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sister, Nancy Goodwin of Gays, IL; brother, Jim (Marilyn) Maxedon of Naples, FL and brother, Bill (Gloria) Maxedon of Shelbyville, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters-in-law: Barb Maxedon and Marsha Maxedon and brother-in-law, Gene Goodwin. 

Tom graduated from Windsor High School in 1952.  Upon graduation he worked for his Uncle Luther Bence.  He moved to Oakland to work at Hayes Mills in 1958 which later sold to Smith Douglas and he became manager of Oakland Crop Service.  He continued as manager when it changed hands and became Crop Production Services.  He was there until he retired at the age of 65 but continued to work part-time.  Tom enjoyed watching his children play sports, playing with his grandchildren, fishing, golfing and spending time with his family.
