Sandra Naab Obituary

Sandra June (Lankow) Naab, 82, of Beecher City, Illinois, was called home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, in Heritage Health in Pana, Illinois.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2023, in Trinity Lutheran Church in Stewardson with Pastor David Weaver officiating.  Burial will take place in Stewardson Cemetery.  Memorials may be made in Sandra's name to Trinity Lutheran Church in Stewardson and mailed to Lockart-Green Funeral Home, 302 W. Main St., Shelbyville, IL 62565. Lockart-Green Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Sandra was born on September 19, 1940, in Aurora, the daughter of Robert and Mable (Mietzner) Lankow.  She was a 1957 graduate of Stewardson High School.   Sandra married Walter Naab in October 1959 and from that union they were blessed with one son, Tony, on October 1, 1960, and 21 years of marriage before Walter’s passing on December 5, 1980.  Sandra had an entrepreneurial spirit and was blessed with many talents including handicrafting and bowling. She was an awarded bowler for 40 years and practiced handicrafting for nearly 70 years.  She was strong in her faith and was a devoted member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Stewardson most of her life.

Sandra was involved in numerous organizations throughout her lifetime.  She served in the Ladies Aid at Trinity Lutheran Church, den mother in Cub Scouts/Boy Scouts, troop leader in Girl Scouts, club leader in 4-H, and many other volunteer positions.  She donated more time and talent than most could ever even imagine.  Sandra's legacy lives on in the crocheted hats she donated to the NICU at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital, in the uniforms she sewed for the Beecher City Grade School cheerleading squad, in the "cross in my pocket" tokens she made for Trinity Lutheran School students, in the quilts she sewed as gifts for new parents in the church, in the years she took teaching her granddaughters how to knit and crochet, in the homemade blankets she donated to the less fortunate, and most of all in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Her legacy lives on in the talents and traits that she passed down to younger generations.  Her hard working and philanthropic nature was matched only by her humility and love for others especially her family.

She is survived by her granddaughters: Courtney (Adam) Hendershot of Long Beach, MS and Shelby Cooper of Pana, IL; great-grandchildren: Jayson, Rebecca, and Jaycob Hendershot and Camo, Canon, and Hunter Cooper.

Sandra was preceded in death by her husband and son, Tony on January 21, 2021.
