Michael Joseph Rhodes, 39, of Beecher City, IL gained his wings and went to meet his Father in Heaven at 1:45 p.m. on Monday, June 21, 2021 at home surrounded by his family.
Michael was born on October 24, 1981, in Effingham, the son of Michael Rhodes and Dawn Gates. He was a 1999 graduate of Beecher City High School then went on to serve his country in the United States Army. He was a member of the Beecher City Church of Christ and the Wilburn Braughton American Legion Post 611 of Stewardson. Michael enjoyed fishing, music and spending time with family, especially his daughters whom he loved dearly.
Surviving are his mother, Dawn Doty of Beecher City; father, Michael Rhodes of Brownstown; daughters: Ashley (Mark Dunn) Rhodes and Brittany Rhodes, both of Beecher City; brothers: Truman (Danielle Higgs) Rhodes, David (Nicole) Doty, Dale (Amy) Doty, Daniel (Macci) Doty Jr., all of Beecher City and Chris (Lynn) Rhodes of Shelbyville; sisters: Darla (Bryan) Baker of Altamont, Julie (JR) Lewis of Flora and Wendy Rhodes of Brownstown and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by all.
Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Truman (Ida) Rhodes and Lee (Ruby) Gates; stepfather, Daniel Doty Sr. and son, Colby Rhodes.
Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 24, 2021 and from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 25, 2021 at Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Beecher City. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 25, 2021 at Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Beecher City with Pastor Kevin Allen and Pastor Dennis Warner officiating. Burial will take place in Hubbartt Cemetery with military rites by the Wilburn Braughton American Legion Post 611 of Stewardson. Memorials may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.
