Linda Carolyn (Potter) Doty

Linda C. Doty, 74, of Beecher City, IL passed away at 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 in HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham, IL.

Linda was born on November 28, 1946, in Mattoon, the daughter of Cleo “Beef” and Fleta (Sinclair) Potter.  Linda and Carl Lee Doty were united in holy matrimony on April 20, 1968, in St. Elmo, and were blessed with 47 wonderful years together before his passing on May 13, 2015.  Linda was a self-employed hairdresser opening her own shop, Linda’s Beauty Shop, in Beecher City in 1975.  In her 39 years of standing behind her chair, she touched the lives of many people with a smile and generous heart.  Linda attended the Beecher City United Methodist Church.  She enjoyed reading, working puzzles, cross-stitching, collecting music boxes and animated figurines.  She leaves behind a legacy of love and unyielding dedication to her family and friends.  She will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love her. 

Surviving are her two sons:  Andy Doty of Valley Park, MO and Steven (Suzett) Doty of Neoga; two grandchildren:  Michelle Doty and Joshua Doty, both of Neoga; sister, Judy Watson of Brownstown and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband and brother, J.D. Potter.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 in Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Beecher City with Pastor Paul Bauer officiating.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.  Burial will take place in Beecher City Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the Beecher City Meals on Wheels, %Linda Doty, 100 Park Rd, Beecher City, IL 62414.  Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Beecher City is assisting the family.
