Lewis "Lew" Donel Ramey

Lewis “Lew” Donel Ramey, 54, of Shelbyville, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2022, at home. 

He was born on October 14, 1968, in Decatur, the oldest child of the late Don and Pamela (Brown) Ramey.  Lew graduated from Shelbyville High School in the class of 1986.  He worked for Lutheran Social Services of Illinois in their CILA homes in both Champaign and Shelbyville.  Lew was a caring, nurturing guy with a great sense of humor who took great pride in caring for others.  He loved fishing, the Dallas Cowboys and the Chicago Cubs. 

Lew is survived by his brother, Lynn Ramey of Shelbyville; sister, Laura Neblick of Pueblo, Colorado; niece, Brittany Neblick of Taylorville; nephew, Dylan Ramey of Missouri; his work family and many friends. 

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lewis and Mildred Brown; aunt, Martha Durbin and niece, Cassandra “Cassy” Nicole Ramey.

A memorial service to celebrate a life well lived will be held at a later date.  Memorials may be made in his name to Saving Orphaned Animals and mailed to Lockart-Green Funeral Home, 302 W. Main St., Shelbyville, IL 62565.  Lockart-Green Funeral Home is assisting the family.
