Larry Bouck Obituary

Larry Duane Bouck, born April 29, 1938, in Coles Station, Illinois, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2024, at HSHS Good Shepherd Hospital in Shelbyville, Illinois. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a cherished member of the Windsor community.

Son of the late James and Susie (Authenrieth) Bouck, Larry was a devoted family man who married the love of his life, Sue Ann Olson, on February 17, 1961, in the Windsor United Methodist Church. Their enduring partnership was blessed with two children, Mark (Teresa) Bouck of Windsor and Jane (Sam) Gregg of Weatherford, Texas. Larry's legacy continued to grow with his grandchildren, Tyler (Victoria) Gregg of College Station, Texas and Alyssa (Tanner) Wheeless of Centennial, Colorado, and his great-grandchildren, Devoni and Jaxson Gregg, along with step-grandchildren Shannon Obrian of Mattoon and Tawnya (Shannon) Marshal of Sullivan, and four step-great-grandchildren, CJ, Andy, Gavin, and Jaxx.

Larry's early life in Windsor set the stage for a lifetime of community involvement and service. A 1957 graduate of Windsor High School, he was an active participant in baseball, basketball, and track, demonstrating a love for sports and competition that lasted well into his later years. After beginning his career at Troutman's Mobil Station in Windsor as a pump jockey, he joined Caterpillar in 1964, dedicating 30 years to the company before his retirement.

Larry's commitment to his hometown was unwavering. He was an active member of the Windsor United Methodist Church, serving on the Administrative Council for several years. His dedication to public service was evident through his 38 years as a volunteer firefighter with the Windsor Fire Department and his 16 years on the Windsor City Council, where he also served as the Cemetery Commissioner.

Athleticism was a thread that ran through Larry's life. He played third base for the Windsor Men's Fast Pitched Softball team well into his 50s. His love for sports was complemented by his passion for the outdoors, enjoying fishing, golfing, hunting, and boating. Larry was also a familiar face at local coffee shops, always ready for a good conversation and a warm cup of coffee.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Frank, Louis, and Fred Bouck, and two sisters, Nora Jane Bault and Ruth Ellen Burress. The strength and warmth of his personality will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Funeral services to celebrate Larry's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2024, in the Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home in Windsor, with Pastor Jake Wetterlin officiating. The burial will follow in Windsor Cemetery.
