James "Jim" Hostetter Obituary

James “Jim” Thomas Hostetter, 90, of Windsor, IL passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2023, in Mattoon Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Mattoon, IL. 

Jim was born on September 19, 1932, in Mattoon, the son of Paul and Vera (Finley) Hostetter.  He proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a Korean War veteran.  Jim married Nelda Hawyer on November 10, 1951, and they were blessed with 55 years of marriage before her passing on May 29, 2007.  Jim then married Carol Ann (Frank) Cox on March 23, 2008.  Jim worked as a brick mason for over 50 years.  He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, camping, playing cards and riding his Goldwing.  He was a longtime member of the Garrett-Baldridge American Legion Post 725 in Windsor. 

He is survived by his wife, Carol Ann of Mattoon; two sons:  Dennis (Robin) Hostetter of Windsor and Randall (Rhonda) Hostetter of Mattoon; three stepsons:  Ralph Wayne Cox of Mattoon, Mark Cox of Georgia and Matt (Nicola) Cox of Florida; sons-in-law: Ralph Shafer of Mattoon and David Elson of Windsor; brother, Charles (Debbie) Hostetter of Charleston; brother-in-law, John Walker of Windsor and many grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nelda; two daughters:  Vicki Shafer and Debra Elson; son, Thomas Lee Hostetter and sister, Joyce Walker. 

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 19, 2023, in Whitfield Cemetery in Moultrie County.  Military rites will be performed by the Garrett-Baldridge American Legion Post 725 of Windsor.  Following the graveside service please join the family for dinner at the Windsor Community Building, 1218 Maine Street in Windsor.  Memorials may be made in Jim’s name to the Garrett-Baldridge American Legion Post 725 in Windsor and mailed to Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home, P.O. Box 52, Windsor, IL 61957.  Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home is assisting the family.
