Gary Wayne Lovett, 48, of Windsor, Illinois, passed away at home on January 31, 2024.
He was born on July 5, 1975, in Lumberton, North Carolina, one of six children, to Danny and Janice (Johnson) Lovett. Gary married Michelle Swain, on July 10, 2013, and together they raised four children, Courtney, Ashlee, Krystina, and Mia. A hardworking and skilled craftsman, Gary owned and operated Luv-It Construction in Windsor for 17 years. Gary was a man of faith, actively involved in Liberty Life Church in Mattoon and New Life Tabernacle Church in Sullivan. He lived his beliefs through his actions, always ready to lend a hand or offer a word of support. An avid outdoorsman, Gary enjoyed fishing, camping, boating, and golfing. He also found great joy in playing his guitar and surrounding himself with family and friends. A lifelong Chicago Cubs fan, he rarely missed a chance to catch a game or talk about the latest play.
He is survived by his mother, Janice of Mattoon; wife, Michelle of Windsor; his children, Courtney Lovett of Mansfield, Ohio, Ashlee Lovett of Charleston, Krystina (Joshua) Loy of Cowden, and Mia Lovett of Windsor and his five grandchildren, Adeliee Demers, Parker Marquez, Sophia Loy, Westley Frederick, and Haven Lovett. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he never missed an opportunity to share in their achievements and adventures. He also leaves behind his siblings, Sharon, Joan, Jason (Sandra), Dannie (Shanna), and Jessica, all of Mattoon. Gary's life was also enriched by his special friends, Nathan Perry and Tom Olmsted, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Gary's father, Danny, and his best friend, Jeremy Voris, preceded him in death.
