Frank Warren Obituary

George Franklin Warren, known affectionately as Frank to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2024, at the age of 91. Born on April 13, 1932, in Windsor, Illinois, to Ward and Nellie Jane (Gaston) Warren, Frank remained a lifetime resident of the Windsor community, a place he cherished and contributed to throughout his life.

Frank's early life was rooted in the values of hard work and dedication. He was a proud graduate of Windsor High School, after which he honorably served his country in the United States Army. Upon returning to civilian life, Frank married the love of his life, Dorothy J. Hilligoss, on November 28, 1952. Their enduring partnership was blessed with two children, Howard and Krista, and a lifetime of shared memories.

Professionally, Frank was a pillar of the agricultural community in Windsor. He dedicated his life to farming, managing the Warren Grain Elevator, and operating Warren Trucking. His work ethic and commitment to his profession were evident to all who knew him. Frank's contributions extended beyond his business as he was an active member of the Shelby County Farm Bureau, where he advocated for the interests of local farmers for many years.

Beyond his professional life, Frank was a devoted family man. He is survived by his beloved wife, Dorothy; his children, Howard (Kathy) Warren of Mattoon and Krista Droop of Wilmington, Ohio; his daughter-in-law, Sherry C. Warren of Sullivan; his grandchildren, Macy (Andy) Cole of Windsor and Devin Warren of Gays; and his three great-grandchildren, Holden, Oliver, and Lane Cole. A host of nieces, nephews, and cousins also remember Frank fondly and will miss his presence dearly.

Frank's life was one of joy and companionship, punctuated by his love for his beagles and the precious moments spent with his family. His gentle spirit and warm heart left an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Sadly, Frank was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Sara Jane Stevens, and his son-in-law Michael Droop.  Their memories remain a testament to the family's legacy of love and resilience.

The community will gather to honor Frank's life and legacy at the Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2024, with Reverend Linda Trent officiating. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during visitation, which will begin at noon and continue until the time of the service. The interment will follow at Hilligoss Cemetery, where Frank will be laid to rest.
