Dawne Diane (Rickett) Conaway

Dawne Diane Conaway, 59, of Lakewood, IL passed away at 6:02 p.m. on Sunday, November 21, 2021, in HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL with loved ones by her side.  

Dawne was born on December 21, 1961, in Mattoon, the daughter of Marvin and Shirley (Landrus) Rickett.  She was a graduate of Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1980.  Dawne and Gary Conaway were united in marriage on June 20, 1998.  Dawne worked for Hallmark, the Shelby County Animal Control and recently became an ordained minister. Family was very important to Dawne, especially her grandchildren.  She also had a love for all animals.  

Surviving are her mother, Shirley Roeder of Lakewood; husband, Gary Conaway of Lakewood; daughter, Amanda (Mark) Ward of Lakewood; three stepchildren:  Gary, Jaison (Janee) and Gail (Chris) Spurgin, all of Texas; seven grandchildren; three brothers:  Brad (Shawn) Rickett of Shelbyville, Brian Rickett of St. Charles, MO and Bart Rickett of Champaign. 

She was preceded in death by her father, Marvin Rickett; stepfather, Ron Roeder and brother, Brent Rickett.  

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 24, 2021, in Lakewood United Methodist Church with Pastor Antonio Sutton officiating.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.  Burial will take place in Ridge Cemetery on Williamsburg Hill.  Memorials may be made to the Lakewood United Methodist Church or the Shelby County Animal Control.  Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville is assisting the family.
