Carl Eugene Carroll

Carl Eugene Carroll, 91, of Findlay, Illinois passed away peacefully at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Illinois at 12:10 a.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2022.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 18, 2022, in Findlay Cemetery with Pastor Mike Carr officiating.  Military honors will be performed by the Clarence Bixler American Legion Post 409 of Findlay.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Carl’s honor to the donor’s favorite charity.  Memorials may be mailed to Lockart-Green Funeral Home, 302 W. Main St., Shelbyville, IL 62565.  Lockart-Green Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Carl was born on April 10, 1930, in Evansville, Indiana, to the late Thomas and Macel (Goodwin) Carroll.  He married Luella Boles on September 10, 1950.  Carl had a long career with both the C&E Railroad and Caterpillar.  He was an avid vegetable gardener.  Carl was a proud veteran of the United States Army, he served in the Korean War 1951-1952.    

He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Luella Carroll of Findlay; one son, Mark (Cherie) Carroll of Findlay; one daughter, Marcia (Bob) Hussong of Mattoon; three grandchildren:  Jessica Carroll of Findlay, Cole Hussong of Mattoon and Andrea Brettin of Mattoon; three great-grandchildren:  Cruz Hussong, Cora Hussong and Liam Brettin, all of Mattoon and one brother, Ray Carroll.

Carl was preceded in death by two sisters:  Hazel Schuster and Mary Hendrickson and three brothers:  Junior Carroll, Joe Carroll and Sonny Carroll.
