Candice Roberts Obituary

Candice “Candy” L. Roberts, 70, of Shelbyville, Illinois, formerly of Findlay, Illinois, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2024.  Born on January 7, 1954, in Rushville, Indiana, she was the beloved daughter of Lucas and Virginia (Lunsford) Faubus. Candy's loving stepfather, Melvin Eaton, played a significant role in her life as one of her primary caretakers, and she carried the warmth of his care with her throughout her life.

Candy grew up surrounded by a loving family. She is survived by her sister, Mattie (Dennis) Wheat, many adoring nieces and nephews, and the extended family of both blood and bond at the Shelbyville Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. Each of these individuals held a special place in Candy's heart, and she in theirs.   She was preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather, her sisters Louise Scheu and Penny Volkman, and her brother John Perry Roberts.

Despite the challenges posed by her disability, Candy led a life filled with joy and simple pleasures. She was a longtime and cherished resident of the Shelbyville Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, where she found a second family among the residents and staff. Her days were brightened by the colorful world of her coloring books, the satisfaction of completing puzzles, the creativity of her crafts, and the excitement of playing bingo. Her enthusiasm for these activities was infectious and brought smiles to all those around her.

A special thank you is extended to Elizabeth Massey, Cathy Brown, and the entire staff at the center. Their dedication and compassion played an invaluable role in Candy's life, providing her with care, friendship, and a sense of belonging.
