Alma Nohren Obituary

Alma Earlene Nohren, 75, of Cowden, IL passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family.    

Earlene was born on October 2, 1946, in Shelbyville, the daughter of Nathaniel Earl and Alma (Griffith) Wren.  Her father passed away when Earlene was very young, she was raised by her mother and stepfather, Leroy Joseph Hooper.  Earlene and Paul E. Nohren were united in holy matrimony on June 13, 1962 and were blessed with seven sons and 33 years of marriage before his passing on November 29, 1995.  Earlene worked as a dietary aid at the Shelby Memorial Hospital and the Shelbyville Manor for many years.  She dedicated her life to the Lord, her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was the happiest when she was surrounded by family and creating special memories.  She also enjoyed frequenting the riverboat casinos with her sisters, scratch off lottery, fishing and watching old western shows, especially Gunsmoke.  Earlene was a longtime member of the First Christian Church in Cowden. 

Surviving are six sons:  Dennis (Shelly) Nohren of Herrick, Terry (Sharon) Nohren of Herrick, Wayne (Lesa) Nohren of Lakewood, Bradley Nohren of Cowden, Tim Nohren (Lori Buff) of Herrick and Keith Nohren of Cowden; grandchildren:  Doug (Summer) Nohren of Herrick, Andy (Kristen) Nohren of Herrick, Kim (David) Fanning of Mt. Vernon and Aaron Nohren (Chase Figueroa) of Montana; great-grandchildren:  Shae Nohren, Lincoln Nohren, Lainey Nohren, Lydia Nohren, Stran Nohren, Ty Nohren and Titus Nohren; sisters:  Marilou Knearem and Helen (Tony) Blaine, both of Cowden and sister-in-law, Joann (Pearl) Simmons of Cowden.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant son, Stacy Nohren; brother, Artie Wren and brother-in-law, Stanley Knearem. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 26, 2022, in the First Christian Church in Cowden with Pastors Dick Wamsley and Don “Satch” Thomas officiating.  Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.  Burial will take place in Ridge Cemetery.  Lockart-Green Funeral Home is assisting the family.
