Terry Shadwell Obituary

Terry D. Shadwell, 78, of Shelbyville, IL passed away at 6:06 a.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL.

Terry was born on June 25, 1941, in Effingham, the son of Noble and Hazel (Jamison) Shadwell. He was raised in Shumway by his grandparents, Grover Cleveland and Lula Shadwell. He and Florence "Tunie" Mememga were married on May 20, 1961 in Effingham and were blessed with 58 years of marriage. Terry was affiliated with the First Church of the Nazarene in Shelbyville. He was Deputy Sheriff of Shelby County for 19 years, retiring in 1999, and formerly worked for the Illinois Department of Mental Health at the Adolph Meyer Zone Center in Decatur for several years and the Illinois Central Railroad. Terry attended Millikin University in Decatur and Lake Land College in Mattoon. He loved music and reading and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and Chicago Bears fan.

Surviving are his wife, Tunie Shadwell of Shelbyville; children: Terri Jean Holmes and husband Jim of Shelbyville, Todd Eric Shadwell and wife Stephanie of Shelbyville, Timothy Ross Shadwell and wife Tonya of Arcola and Dustin Delaney Shadwell of Shelbyville; grandchildren: Cory Richards, Erica Shadwell, Nick Richards, Pepsi Shadwell, Haley Shadwell, Hunter Shadwell, Darien Shadwell and Spencer Shadwell; great-grandchildren: Parker Lancaster, Porter Lancaster, Aden Shadwell, Kolbi Richards, Koltley Richards, Anna McDonald and Cole McDonald; sisters: Sandy Jaggers of Canmer, KY and Sharon Cline and husband Raymond of Indianapolis, IN; brothers: Tony Horrick and wife Donna of Dexter, MO and Danny Horrick and wife Thelma of Altamont; cousin, Wilmetta Ohnesorge of Effingham.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sons: Terry Dean Shadwell Jr. and Jason Shadwell; twin brother, Larry Shadwell; brothers: Leroy Shadwell and David Horrick.

Private family services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the family at 1107 W South 4th St., Shelbyville, IL 62565 to assist with medical bills. Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville is assisting the family.
