Norma Carter Obituary

Norma Jean Carter, 92, of Windsor, IL, went to be with our Lord on the morning of July 14, 2020.

Norma was born on October 1, 1927, in Windsor, to Jesse and Bertha (Griffin) Carter. Norma was a graduate of Windsor High School and Eastern Illinois University. She taught second grade at Atwood Elementary School for 35 years. After retirement she volunteered at the Windsor Storm Memorial Library for 25 years and donated many books to the library. She would work every afternoon after watching her favorite soap operas (stories)! Norma was a gentle, independent lady who gave generously to many organizations. She enjoyed walking, traveling around the USA, crocheting, reading, putting puzzles together, reading up on the Hollywood news in her favorite tabloids, and watching her favorite westerns on television. Norma was a 50+ year member of the Windsor Christian Church.

Norma is survived by her sister, Emma Englund and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: James, Bill, and Lawrence; sisters: Opal Bennett, Annabelle Beals, and Florence Mattlin.

Visitation will be from 9:00-10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 20, 2020 at Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home in Windsor followed by graveside services at Windsor Cemetery with Reverend Patrick Fahey officiating. Memorials may be made in Norma's name to the Windsor Storm Memorial Library.
