Maxine A. Bennett, 97, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister passed away peacefully at 2:45 p.m. on Friday, August 30, 2019 at the Odd Fellow Rebekah Home in Mattoon, IL.
Maxine was born on September 28, 1921, in Shelbyville, IL, the daughter Lawrence and Florence (Helton) Camfield. She was baptized in 1936 at the Methodist Church in Middlesworth, IL and transferred to the Findlay Christian Church in 1950. Maxine and Paul Lovins Bennett were united in holy matrimony on November 14, 1939 in Bowling Green, MO and were blessed with 66 years together before his passing on October 12, 2005.
Maxine was a 69-year member of the Findlay Christian Church and was an active member of Windsor and the surrounding communities. She volunteered with the Findlay Christian Church Women's Club, Booster Club, Willing Workers, PTA, Shelby Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Shelby Memorial Hospital Pink Ladies, Fairhaven Nursing Home Auxiliary and was a Sunday School teacher. Maxine had a strong faith that sustained her throughout her life. Maxine's family was her life.
Surviving are her sons: Preston (Kay) Bennett of Windsor, IL and Greg (Faye) Bennett of Windsor, IL; grandchildren: Quinn (Kristen) Bennett of Windsor, IL, Rachel (Chris) Brandenburg of Lafayette, IN, Ashley Bennett of Knoxville, TN and Drew (Danielle) Bennett of Winchester, KS; great-grandchildren: Jordan Brandenburg, Allison (Fiancé LeRoy Medrano) Brandenburg, Gavin Bennett, Ava Bennett, Daegan Bennett and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers, Birney (Irene) Camfield and Lawrence (Wilma) Camfield.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 2, 2019 at Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home in Windsor, IL with Pastor Richard Hargrave officiating. Burial will take place in Sand Creek Cemetery in rural Windsor, IL. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home in Windsor, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Maxine's name to the Findlay Christian Church, Windsor Christian Church or the Sand Creek Church Restoration Fund.
