Leona McMillan Obituary

Leona May McMillan, 80, of Altamont, IL passed away at 1:03 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at HSHS St. John's Hospital in Springfield, IL.

Leona was born on March 21, 1940, in Clarksburg Township, the daughter of Sereno and Leona "Violet" (Rentfro) Tipsword. She was a loving homemaker to her family who enjoyed reading and watching the birds.

Surviving are her daughter, Lisa McMillan; sons: Kevin McMillan and Jeremy McMillan, all of Altamont; sisters: Bessie Potter of Altamont, Linda Canada of Beecher City and Lavesta Rickfelder of Arcola.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Meral David McMillan; sisters: Patricia Thompson, Diane Gordon, Elner Russell and Lucy "Frances" Gillespie; brothers: Samuel Tipsword and Jerry Tipsword.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a private family service will be held at Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Beecher City. Burial will take place in Tipsword Cemetery in rural Beecher City. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to help with final expenses. Memorials may be sent to Lockart-Green Funeral Home, %Leona McMillan, 302 W. Main St., Shelbyville, IL 62565.
