Kathleen V. Matheny

Kathleen V. Matheny, 91, of Shelbyville, IL passed away at 6:20 a.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at the Shelbyville Manor in Shelbyville, IL.

Kathleen was born on December 25, 1927, in Metropolis, the daughter of Perce and Neva (Gainer) Holder. Kathleen was very young when her mother passed away. Her father then married Mary Belle who raised Kathleen from a young age. Kathleen married Everett Matheny and from that union she was blessed with three beautiful children: Michael, Nancy and Steve Matheny. Kathleen retired from Illinois Consolidated Telephone Company.

Surviving are her daughter, Nancy (Ralph) Daniels of Shelbyville; son, Steve (Brenda) Matheny of Shelbyville; daughter-in-law, Brenda Matheny of Mattoon; eleven grandchildren: Andy (Celeste) Matheny, Lincoln (Rosa) Matheny, Chris (Amanda) Nichols, Shauna (Josh) Kemper, Drew (Melissa) Daniels, Dustin (Julie) Daniels, Ashley Durbin, Jamie (Chad) Wallis, Josh Matheny, Jeff (Casey) Pruemer, and Jill Pruemer; 23 great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; three sisters: Gladys Hannis, Norma (Steve) Peek and Glenda (Tony) Clark.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Perce, Neva and Mary Belle Holder; son, Michael E. Matheny; great-great granddaughter and several brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2019 at Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville. Burial will take place in Smyser Cemetery in rural Gays. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville.
