Barbara S. White 81, of Odin, IL, formerly of Shelbyville, IL, Vandalia, IL and Kankakee, IL, passed away at 5:30 PM Friday June 13, 2008 in Odin Healthcare Center in Odin.
Barbara was born June 30, 1926 in Shelbyville, the daughter of Earl and Cecile Eskew Stansberry.
She married Ralph O. White July 18, 1944 in Marion, AK and he passed away Feb. 25, 1984.
Barbara was a graduate of Findlay High School.She was first, and foremost, a homemaker.She formerly worked as a receptionist at the Emergency Room of St. Mary’s Hospital in Kankakee.She also worked as a cook’s assistant at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church School in Kankakee.She later worked as a bus driver for Special Education students for fourteen years with Kankakee Auto Leasing.Finally, she worked at T & T Video Store in Shelbyville.
Barbara was baptized at a young age into the Disciples of Christ Christian Church and was still a member.
She was an avid sports fan, especially, of the St. Louis Cardinals.Her life revolved around her family and following all the activities of her grandchildren.
Surviving are her children: Mary Conlon and husband Mike of Odin, IL, Jackie Chandler and husband Roger of Brownstown, IL, Dana Hightower and husband Patrick of Grapevine, TX, John White and wifeRobin of San Antonio, TX and Tim White and wifeCindy of McKinney, TX; son-in-law Larry Reynolds of North Aurora, IL;fifteen grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; sister Mary Rincker and husband Loyd of Shelbyville; sister –in-law Rita Stansberry of Wood River, IL ; special niece Kathy Pointer of Bethalto, IL and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph, her parents, daughters Vicky Lynn Reynolds and Dawn Elizabeth White, grandson Sam Chandler, great grandson Lucas Chandler and brother Jack Stansberry.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM Saturday June 21, 2008 in Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville.Dr. Edwin E. Evans will officiate.Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until time of the service on Saturday.Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville.Memorials can be made to the Odin Healthcare Care Family and Friends Council.
