Melba Madeline Yarnell, 89, of Cowden, IL, passed away at 11:15 p.m. Saturday (August 16, 2008) at here residence.
Melba was born May 13, 1919 at Cowden, IL the daughter of William and Josephine Plowman Thomas.
She married John C. Yarnell Jan. 30, 1939 in Shelbyville and he passed away on Sept. 25, 2007.
Melba was a homemaker who loved her life on the farm working side by side with her husband John.She was affiliated with the United Methodist Church of Cowden.
She was blessed with three daughters:Margaret Peters and husband Ray of Cowden, Phyllis Compton of Charleston, IL and Janet Thompson and husband John of Cowden; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother Gary Thomas and wife Mary Sue of Decatur, IL.
Melba was preceded in death by her husband John, parents, one brother, three sisters, one grandson and one son-in-law.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday Aug. 21, 2008 in Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Cowden.Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until service time on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, Cowden, IL.Memorials can be made to the Cowden First Responders.
