Frances Evelyn Yager, 88, of Shelbyville formerly of Springfield passed away at 9:15 p.m. Friday (June 5, 2009) at here residence.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Lockart-Green Funeral Home, Shelbyville. Visitation will be one hour before service time. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Crohn’s Foundation.
She was born May 15, 1921 in Shelbyville the daughter of George W. (Whitey) and Nellie Frances (Stewardson) Williams. She married Carl William Yager July 9, 1944 and he preceded her in death, October 26, 1994.
She was a member of the Catholic Church, AMVETS and American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She was employed by the State of Illinois in Springfield for 40 years and was a devout Republican.
Surviving are one sister, Dorothy Jane Moon of Springfield; nieces, Rebecca Jane Beck of Chatham and Julie Ann Carter of Alexandria, VA; nephews, Gregory George Moon of Springfield and Michael Richard Courtright of Virginia Beach, VA; several great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister, Kathryn Ann Courtright.
