Robert Augustus Wells 64 of Cowden, IL, passed away at 5:55AM Friday Nov. 13, 2009 in the Veterans’ Hospital in Danville, IL.
He was born August 24, 1945 in Davenport, IA the son of Augustus and Mildred Schneider Wells.
He married Diane Weber Oct. 19, 1974 in East St. Louis, MO.
Robert worked in sales most of his working life, much of that time in life insurance in Houston, TX.Later he worked at Lyons Liquor in Altamont, IL.
He served in the United States Marines during the Viet Nam War.
Surviving are his wife Diane; sons Lee Wells of Chicago, IL and Jason Wells and wife Joyce of Beecher City, IL; daughter Dawn Wells of Herrick, IL; grandchildren: Aaron Wells, Hannah Wells and Addison Wasson; sisters: Nancy Zorrozua (Steele) of House Springs, MO and Kay Powers of Granite City, IL
Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday Nov. 18, 2009 in Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Cowden.Father Leo Enlow will officiate. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 PM Tuesday in the funeral home with a prayer service at 6:00 PM.A graveside service will be held at 2:30 PM Wednesday in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO with military rites.On line condolences may be directed to the family at www.lockartgreenfuneralhome.com
