James Paul Wakeland Sr. 60, of Cowden, IL, passed away at 9:15 PM Sunday May 25, 2008 in Shelby Memorial Hospital in Shelbyville.
James was born Sept. 1, 1947 in Shelbyville, IL the son of Paul and Mary Johnson Wakeland.
He was a farmer and a truck driver and was a member of Teamster Local 279 of Decatur, IL.James was a member of the Shelby County Farm Bureau.
He married Tamara Wells April 10, 1982 in Mt Zion, IL and she survives.Also surviving are children:James Paul(Patty Brookman) Wakeland II, David Wakelandand Ronald Wakeland all of Herrick, IL, Jamie (Andrew)Hardimon and Jessica(Jared)Stuckemeyer both of Cowden; grandchildren: Dustin, Linsaie, Emily, Brianna, Molly, Cheyenne, Amber, Shayla and Eric;brothers and sisters: Dennis(Louann)Wakeland of Haines City, FL, Kay(Rick)White of Macon, IL, Ricky(Ruth) Wakeland of Decatur, IL, Chuck(Penny)Wakeland of Springfield, IL, Pauline(Gene)Nees of Melbourne, FLand Anna Mae Gibson of Olney, IL; mother-in-law Karen Wells of Hammond, IL; father-in-law Raymond(Suzanne) Wells of Monticello, IL
He was preceded in death by a daughter Karen Sue and his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday May 29, 2008 in Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville.Rev. Barry Long will officiate. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 PM Wednesday.Burial will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery in near Cowden. Memorials can be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital or Donors Choice.
