Donald D. (Donnie) Stockdale 60 of Findlay, IL, passed away at 12:47 AM Tuesday Dec. 22, 2009 in Shelby Memorial Hospital in Shelbyville.
Donnie was born Aug. 5, 1949 in Shelbyville the son of Wilbur and Kathryn Connelly Stockdale.
He married Lynn Graven on Dec. 27, 1968 in Findlay.
Donnie was employed for many years in tire production at Firestone Tire Company in Decatur, IL.and formerly worked at Leach Wilson Motors in Shelbyville.
Donnie served in United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.He was a member of the Clarence Bixler American Legion Post #409 of Findlay.Donnie was a certified softball and baseball umpire and umpired many games in Shelbyville.He was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs, University of Illinois and the Shelbyville Rams.He loved to attend the sporting events in which his grandchildren were involved.His proudest role was that of Father and Grandfather.
He is survived by his wife Lynn; children: Amy Hatfield and husband Travis of Shelbyville, Bradley Stockdale of Findlay and Troy Stockdale and fiancé Tiffany Wells of La Place, IL; grandchildren: Jordan, Remington, Katelyn, Luke, Jeffery, Jaden, Jacob, Samantha, Gavin, Jessica and Rope; brother Wilbur Stockdale Jr. and wife Carol of Mishawaka, IN; sisters: Nancy Winings of Mt. Zion, IL and Judy Keeling of Pana, IL
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Patty, Esther and Brenda and brother John.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM Sunday Dec. 27, 2009 in Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Findlay.Pastor Scott Woolridge will officiate.Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM Saturday.Burial will be in Findlay Cemetery. Military rites will be performed by the Honor Guard of Clarence Bixler American Legion Post #409.Memorials can be made to the Shelbyville Little League Boys Baseball Complex in Forest Park.On line condolences may be directed to the family at www.lockartgreenfuneralhome.com
