Beulah May Smith 76 of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 9:50 PM Sunday Aug. 17, 2008 in Decatur Memorial Hospital in Decatur, IL.
Beulah was born May 5, 1932 in Shelbyville, IL the daughter of William Albert and Rosa Ellen Severe Winslow.
She married George Isaac Smith June 16, 1957 in Shelbyville, and he passed away June 7, 1979.
Beulah was a graduate of Shelbyville High School in 1950, and then graduated from Sparks Business College in Shelbyville where she was a member of Theta Pi Gamma Sorority.She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Shelbyville where she was a member of the Methodist Women.She was an avid gardener.
Beulah was a loving care-giver to family and many friends.She volunteered at Shelby County Community Services, provided homecare to senor citizens in their homes and was a great babysitter becoming a second Mom to her “Kids”.
Formerly, she was employed by the Oliver Corp.
She loved her family more than anything and attended hundreds of sporting events all over the Midwest when her children and grandchildren were participating.
Surviving are her children: Wendy Smith and special friend Melanie Spellmeyer of Normal, George Smith and wife Kim of Shelbyville, Dale Smith and wife Jody of Shelbyville; son-in-law Joe Kries of Pana, IL; grandchildren: Willy Kries of Champaign, IL, Amber Kries of Shelbyville, Laura Kazmer and husband Brad of Mt. Zion, IL, Isaac Smith and Austin Smith both of Shelbyville; step great grandson Dylan Kazmer.
She was preceded in death by a sister infancy, husband George, her parents, daughter Gail Kries.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday Aug. 22, 2008 in Lockart -Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville.The family requests casual attire.Visitation will be from 5:00-9:00 PM Thursday.Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville.Memorials can be made to the First United Methodist Church of Shelbyville Food Pantry.
