Ernest P. Sims 89, of Windsor passed away at 11:53 p.m. (Thursday Jan. 15, 2009) in Shelby Memorial Hospital in Shelbyville.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday in the Bethel Cemetery near Findlay with military rites. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home, Windsor. Memorials may be made to the Disabled Veterans.
He was born June 30, 1919 in Kennett, MO the son of Charles H. and Addie Mae Bledsoe Sims. He married Alice I. Turney September 3, 1944 in Shelbyville.
He was retired from Blaw-Knox in Mattoon after 28 years of service. He served in the US Navy and was a Pearl Harbor survivor. He was a life member of VFW Post 4829 in Shelbyville.
Surviving are his wife, Alice; son, Charles A. Sims of Windsor; daughter, Susan M. Ewers of Monticello; grandchildren, Steve Sims, Charlie Sims, Crystal Budde, Melissa Whitman, Michelle Ewers and Leighton Ewers; 9 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
