Gail Marie Root, 83, of Stewardson, IL, passed away at 3:52 AM Saturday Aug. 9, 2008 in the Effingham Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham.
Mrs. Root was born Sept. 6, 1924 in Stewardson, IL the daughter of Walter Edwin and Pearl Ida Kull Manhart.
She married Donald Ralph Root Sept. 16, 1950 and he passed away April 1, 1982.
Mrs. Root was a homemaker and formerly worked at Norge Corporation in Effingham and was a housekeeper at Effingham Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham.
She was a member of the Stewardson Trinity Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Ladies Aid.She was an avid quilter.
Surviving are children: Deborah (Gary) Montgomery of Red Oak, TX, John Root of Effingham, IL, Larry (Lynnette) Root of Stewardson and Darren (Tammy) Root of Neoga, IL; six grandchildren; one great grandchild; sister Deloris (Max) Tabbert of Stewardson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughter-in-law Linda, brother Irvin Manhart and sister Lela Mae Manhart.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday Aug. 12, 2008 in the Stewardson Trinity Lutheran Church.Pastor Richard Bremer will officiate.Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 PM Monday in Brummerstedt Funeral Home in Stewardson.Burial will be in Stewardson Cemetery.Memorials may be given to the Stewardson Trinity Lutheran Church.
