Billy Joe Robinson, 79, of Shelbyville died at 10:00 p.m. Wednesday (November 16. 2011) at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday at the Lockart-Green Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Gary Crowder officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Memorials may be made to the Kaskaskia River Chapter of Ducks Unlimited. The family requests casual attire.
He was born April 28, 1932 in Shelbyville the son of Henry and Opal (Throckmorton) Robinson.
He was formerly employed at Oliver Corp., Hudson Construction and a retired farmer.
He was a member of the First Christian Church, Shelbyville, NRA, co-founder of Kaskaskia River Ducks Unlimited. He received several fishing awards including Master Angler award, Sports Afield Big Fish award, Dept of Conservation awards, Mepps Grand Slam Fishing award, Shimano Honor Roll and had many record catches on Lake Shelbyville and Kaskaskia River. He was an avid hunter holding a thirty year record of 385 straight skeet targets and many other records in skeet target awards. He was known as the Big Fish Man.
Surviving are his children, Kathy Killam (Mike), Teresa Shanks (Randy), Bill Robinson (Rhonda) and Mark Robinson all of Shelbyville and Sandra Drake (Mike) of LaGrange; special friend, Sue Starwalt of Shelbyville; aunt, June Keller of Shelbyville; 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
