Wilma Elizabeth Reynolds, 92, of Shelbyville passed away at 4:00 p.m. Sunday (April 5, 2009) at the Shelby Memorial Hospital Extended Care.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the Lockart-Green Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Rev. David McHenry officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in the Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville.
She was born August 18, 1916 in Shelbyville, the daughter William H. and Virginia Herron Connelly.
Wilma was a 21 year employee of the U.S. Census Bureau, charter member of the VFW Auxiliary, Volunteer of the year in 1999 and a sewing lady at the hospital for many years. She was also a longtime nursery worker and Sunday School teacher at the First Baptist Church, an election judge and very involved with the Shelby County Republican Central Committee. She was a member of the Cornerstone Church, Shelbyville.
She married Charles A. Reynolds on June 9, 1932 in Schram City and he preceded her in death on November 9, 1984. She is survived by daughters, Carol Woods and Cheryl Welton of Shelbyville, Cherie (Dave) Buatte of Bethalto and son Charles Don (Nina) Reynolds of Decatur; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves brother, Robert (Virginia) Connelly and special niece, Ginnie (Richard) Hostetler and family of Shelbyville, foster sister, Marian Decker of Louisville, KY. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, infant sister, Velma Connelly, infant grandson, Bryan Buatte, sons-in-laws, Don (Curly) Welton and Gene Woods, daughter-in-law, Judy Reynolds, foster sister, Marie Arterburn and nephew, Scott Connelly.
Memorials may be made to the Shelby Memorial Hospital Extended Care Unit where Wilma has resided for most of last year.The family would like to thank all of them for their love, patience and care during this difficult time.
