Opal Pearl Reid, 90, of Pekin, formerly of Stewardson passed away at 1:47 a.m. Wednesday August 6, 2008 at her daughter’s residence in Pekin.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the United Methodist Church, Stewardson. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the Brummerstedt Funeral Home, Stewardson. Burial will be in the Stewardson Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Stewardson Masonic Lodge.
She was born September 11, 1917 in Litchfield, IL the daughter of Floyd and Ruby Dush Hatfill.
She married Charles W. Reid December 23, 1939 and he passed away September 1996.
Opal worked along side her husband on the family farm until his retirement.She volunteered at St. Anthony’s Hospital and nursing homes in the area. She was a member of the Stewardson United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and the Eastern Star Lodge.
She survived by her daughter, Roselle (Roger) Massey of Pekin; two grandchildren, Melinda (Craig) Stuber and Meghan (Bobby) Innis of Pekin; one step-granddaughter, Kari (Lance) Byerly of Naperville and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister, Irma Archer, and two daughters, Mary Francis and Ruth Katherine.
