Kathryn Jane ( Kate) Downs Prosser 89 of Kansas City, MO, formerly of Shelbyville, IL, passed away Friday Aug. 15, 2008 in Truman Medical Center at Lakewood in Kansas City.
Kathryn was born Dec. 15, 1919 in Henton, IL the daughter of Solomon R. and Lucy J. Bodine Downs.
She married Lawrence S .(Scott) Prosser who preceded her in death and leaves four children: daughter Jane Widdicombe of Shawmut, Montana; sons Larry and wife Beverly of Kansas City, Missouri, Scott and wife Beverly of Arlington, TX and James and wife Catherine of Charlotte, North Carolina.She also leaves a brother Ralph Downs and wife Edna of Shelbyville.She will be sadly missed by grandchildren: Steven Widdicombe, Sheila Widdicombe Norsby, Clifford Williamson, Jeffrey Prosser, Veronica Prosser Deneau, Meredith Prosser, Jonathan Prosser, Marissa Prosser, Jacob Prosser and their families.Her many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other family members and friends will miss her beautiful smile and cheerful greeting.
Kathryn was a long-time employee of Sta-Rite Ginny Lou Corp. in Shelbyville and devoted her later years to assisting other senior citizens.In retirement, she lived for nine years with son Jim who was in the Air Force in Albuquerque, New Mexico, O`Fallon, Illinois and Frankfurt, Germany.Kathryn love being part of the military family, spending time with her grandchildren and traveling around Europe.She then moved to Kansas City with son Larry and his family for the last few years as her health declined but never her spirit. She will be remembered by all as a warm, caring, loving woman who always displayed her love for God, her family and her many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday Aug. 20, 2008 in Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville.Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday.Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville.
