R. Richard (Rich) Perry Jr.78 of Decatur, IL, passed away at 7:20 AM Tuesday May 26, 2009 in the Shelbyville Manor in Shelbyville, IL.

Mr. Perry was born Feb. 13, 1931 in Decatur, IL the son of Ralph Richard and Leona R. Bruce Perry Sr.

He married B. Darlene O’Brien April 12, 1952 in Decatur.

Mr. Perry graduated from Decatur High School in the Class of 1949, and from the University of Illinois in 1953 with a degree in civil engineering.He served in the United States Army from 1953-1955.

He retired from Fisher-Stoune Construction Co. as an estimator and he formerly worked at L.E. DeVore Co.He was a former owner of Rusty’s Rock Shop then Rusty’s Minerals.

His hobby was handball, playing six days a week.He is a former Decatur city handball champion.He was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church since 1966.

Surviving are his wife B. Darlene Perry of Decatur; sons Randall R. Perry and wife Susan of Colorado Springs, CO and Russell R. Perry and wife LeAnne of Dallas,TX; daughter RochelleWeast and husband Joseph of Glen Carbon, IL; grandchildren:Elise Samuelson and husband Kai, Brandi Ballard and husband Nick, Howard Perry and wife Crissy, James Perry, Rachel Wrzek, Rebecca Wrzek, Lauren Perry, Christian Perry, Grant Perry, Cole Perry, Reid Perry, Amelia Perry, Court Perry and Eva Perry; brother O.B. Perry and wife Bonie of Decatur; sisters: Shirley Coffman and husband A.F. and Carol Runyon and husband Robert both of Decatur.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Martha Davis.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at Grace United Methodist Church in Decatur and Rev. Danny Cox will officiate.His body was donated to Southern Illinois School of Medicine at Carbondale, IL for scientific study.Memorials are suggested to Grace United Methodist Church at 901 N. Main in Decatur, IL.Arrangements are entrusted to Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville.
