Marjorie G. Parr 81, of Decatur, IL, formerly of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 5:30 PM Friday Jan. 9, 2009 in the Imboden Creek Living Center in Decatur, IL.
She was born Jan. 5, 1928 in Shelby Co. the daughter of Clifford and Dorothy May Waggoner Hamilton.
She married Lyle E. (Spud) Parr in 1946 and he passed away Aug. 29, 1984.
Marjorie was a homemaker and her life centered around her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren who affectionately all called her “Gig”.
She was a member of the First Christian Church of Shelbyville.She enjoyed time spent with her “Girl Friends” and always looked forward to their Tuesday afternoon card parties.
She is survived by a son Michael Parr and wife Janet of Springfield, IL; daughter Susan Pound and husband Jim of Decatur, IL; grandchildren:Sara Kelton of Decatur, Amanda Parr and Amy Parr of Springfield; great grandchildren: Gabriel Kelton of Decatur and Marshall Riggen and Abigail Riggenboth of Decatur; sister Mary Matlock and husband Lyle of Shelbyville; brother Phillip Hamilton of Shelbyville; sisters-in-law Normalu Hamilton of Shelbyville and Doris Thompson of Shelbyville; special friend Suzanne Tate of Shelbyville.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lyle, parents, and brothers: Richard Hamilton, Otis Hamilton and Carl (Cork) Hamilton and sister-in-law Joan Hamilton.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday Jan. 13, 2009 in Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville.Rev. Kevin Ray will officiate.Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until service time on Tuesday.Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville.Memorials can be made to the First Christian Church of Shelbyville or the Activity Fund of the Imboden Creek Living Center, 180 W.
