Joy Kay Murphy, 66, of Morton formerly of Lakewood passed away at 2:49 a.m. Monday (September 8, 2008) in the St. Francis Hospital in Peoria.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the Lockart-Green Funeral Home, Cowden with Rev. Darrell Hinkle officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, Cowden. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
She was born September 29, 1941 in Champaign the daughter of Orville and Geraldine Hunt Stanley. She married John Thomas Murphy September 16, 1966 in Shelbyville and he preceded here in death June 11, 2002.
She was a member of the First Christian Church. She formerly worked at the pool hall and lumber yard in Lakewood, the Moose Lodge in Shelbyville, Fedders in Effingham and currently for the Technology Center in Morton.
Surviving are sons, Wes Murphy of Morton, Harold Spitzner and Tim Murphy (Judy) both of Flora; daughters, Tina Bly of Herrick and Sherry Spitzner of Rantoul; mother, Geraldine Stanley of Flora;brothers,her twin, Loy Stanley (June) of Valparaiso, IN, Ronny Stanley (Barbara) of Wesson MS, Terry Stanley (Carla) of Foster, OK and Orville Stanley, Jr. (Margaret) of Flower Mound, TX; sisters Trudy Hurd (Ronny) and, Shirley Burdine (Fred) both of Flora and Jencie Thompson (David) of Clay City,11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, father and sister, Patty Fulk.
