Dorothy Ellen Mills 89 of Herrick, IL, passed away at 1:10 PM Wednesday Feb. 25, 2009 in her home.
Dorothy was born Feb. 3, 1920 at Morris, OK the daughter of Ertle M. and Dena Olive Raines Edmundson.
She married Harry Eugene Mills Feb. 2, 1939 in St. Charles, MO and he passed away April 15, 1990.
Dorothy was, first and foremost, a homemaker for her family and was also a cook in Herrick Schools for many years.She loved the outdoors and especially loved to camp.
Surviving are her children: Barbara Richardson and husband Ernest of Shelbyville, Jeane Batchelor of Springfield, IL, Thomas E. Mills and wife Carol Ann of Herrick, Sandi Beck and husband Lacy of Cowden, IL, Jan Thompson and husband Deanof Herrick; grandchildren: Vicki Hightower and husband Mike, Brenda Sands and husband Mike, Tammy Thompson and husband Joe, Bud Richardson; and wife Brenda, Eric Turley and wife Carolyn, Brenda Daniel and husband Jim, Gary Batchelor, Daryl Batchelor and wife Denise, John Weiss and wife Joanie, Melissa Piper and husband Rob, Tom Mills and wife Beth, Jonathon Mills and wife Cheri, Brett Beck and wife Jennifer, Dena Reed and husband Scott, Cody Thompson, Sacha Young and husband Eric, Shayna Thompson, and Tanner Thompson and wife Angie;forty-six great grandchildren; fifteen great great grandchildren; sister Mary Waggoner of Waggoner, IL.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harry, two daughters Dena MaeMills and Wanda ”Sissy” Weiss, granddaughter Heather Mills, brothers Claude Edmundson, Donald Edmundson, Joe Edmundson and Jim Edmundson, sister Kathryn McLaughlin, sons-in-law Carl “Batch” Batchelor and Kenny Weiss.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM Sunday Mar. 1, 2009 in the Herrick Baptist Church in Herrick, IL.Pastor Jay Huddleston will officiate.Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 PM Saturday in the church.Burial will be in Girard Cemetery at Girard, IL.Memorials can be made to the Herrick Baptist Church.Arrangements are by Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Cowden, IL.On line condolences may be directed to the family at www.lockartgreenfuneralhome.com
