Susan Ellen “Susie” Melcher 55 of Taylorville, IL, formerly of Findlay, IL, passed away at 3:30 PM Monday Dec. 14, 2009 in the Taylorville Care Center in Taylorville, IL.
Susie was born Oct. 5, 1954 in Shelbyville to Fred and Frances Stewardson Melcher.
She attended Progress School in Decatur, special education classes in Bethany Grade School and Armstrong Center in Mattoon.Susie began work in the Developmental Training Workshop at Shelby County Community Services.In 1993 she began working in the Developmental Training Workshop of Christian County Mental Health in Taylorville.She became a resident of their CILA Home Program in 1995.Susie was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Findlay.
Susie is survived by her sister Elaine Beery and husband Lance of Findlay; niece Lisa Beery Rodgers and husband Kevin ofOrland Park, IL; nephews Lance Beery II and wife Andrea of Casey, IL, Nick Beery of Findlay and Brett Beery and wife Chelsea of Seattle, WA; great niecesSierra Beery of Casey and Judith Beery of Seattle.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Much Love and care was given Susie by the staff at her John Street CILA home in Taylorville, the staff at Taylorville Memorial Hospital and the Taylorville Care Center.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday Dec. 16, 2009 in Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Findlay.Rev. Tom Compton will officiate.Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until time of the service on Wednesday.Burial will be in Findlay Cemetery, Findlay, IL.Memorials can be made to the Christian County Mental Health CILA Program or the First United Methodist Church of Findlay.
