Ennis Jesse Lorton, 87, of Cowden passed away at 3:40 p.m. Friday (June 19, 2008) in the St. Johns Hospital Springfield.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday in the Lockart-Green Funeral Home, Cowden with Brother Doug Miller officiating. Visitation will be one hour before service time. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, Cowden.
He was born April 24, 1921 in Fayette County the son of Lewie and Hattie Beck Lorton. He married Betty Irene Simmons, July 23, 1942 in St. Charles, MO.
He was a retired farmer and member of the Cowden Church of Christ. He served in the US Army during WW II.
Surviving are his wife, Betty; brothers, Leon Lorton and Otis Lorton both of Cowden and Raymond Lorton of Beecher City; sister, Lorene Gilmore of Pana; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
