Goldie Margaret Sanders Lines, 82 of Shelbyville, IL, went to join her heavenly father at 3:57 PM Wednesday Oct. 8, 2008 in Shelby Memorial Hospital in Shelbyville, IL.Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday Oct. 11, 2008 in Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville.Rev. Don Jefferies will officiate.Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until time of the service on Saturday.Burial will be in Tower Hill Cemetery, Tower Hill, IL.Memorials can be made to the First Assembly of God in Shelbyville.
Margaret was born Jan. 7, 1926 in Pana, IL the daughter of Grover and Nellie Devor Sanders.
Margaret was a homemaker and a member of the First Assembly of God Church of Shelbyville.She formerly was employed at General Electric in Decatur, IL where she was a member of the local AIW Union and was an Employee of the Month.Later, she, along with her husband Charles, served as hosts and gate attendants at state parks in the Shelbyville area, and then later at Lake Shelbyville for 18 years.
Margaret attended Tower Hill High School with the Class of 1944.She was an avid sports enthusiast and played on the Tower Hill High School Softball Team.Despite Brenda’s protest, she was an avid Cardinal fan.Margaret loved fishing and music and could play the guitar as will as several other instruments.
She loved to crochet and she, lovingly, made blankets for all of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, and for special family events such as weddings and anniversaries.
She married Charles A. (Chuck) Lines Oct. 9, 1942 in St. Louis, MO.From this marriage, they were blessed with five children: Charlene (Don) Eddington of Mt. Zion, IL, Darlene (Bill) Chesterman of Tower Hill, IL, Brenda (Mike) Cunningham of Oakley, IL, Charles (Sue) Lines of Decatur, IL and Patrick (Judy) Lines of Shelbyville.These children blessed them with sixteen grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; nine great great grandchildren.Also surviving is her last surviving sibling, Robert (Mary) Sanders of Bradenton, FL.
She was met at heavens gate by her Mother, Father, granddaughter Sheri, granddaughter-in-law Angie, five brothers and three sisters who preceded her in death.
She and Charles enjoyed many winters in McAllen TX and Mission, TX before her health began to fail.She remained in good spirits until her death. She and Charles would have celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on Oct 9th. She was the best wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother there ever was!
