Robert Dwight Lewis, 81, of Pana formerly of Shelbyville and Murphysboro passed away at 5:18 p.m. Tuesday (December 29, 2009) in St. Mary’s Hospital, Decatur.
Memorial services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, January 17, 2010 in the Pana Church of the Nazarene. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until service time. Memorials may be made to the Pana Church of the Nazarene. Arrangements are by Lockart-Green Funeral Home, Shelbyville.
He was born April 5, 1928 in Shelbyville, the son of Clinton and Josephine (Weller) Lewis. He married Betty Ditzler May 15, 1948 in Shelbyville.
He was a member of the Pana Church of the Nazarene, former member of the gospel group, the Olivetians of Olivet Nazarene University and was song leader and pianist for over 60 years at Nazarene Churches in Murphysboro, Shelbyville and Pana.
Surviving are his wife, Betty, children, Robert Michael Lewis of Wood River, David Kyle Lewis of Millsboro, DE, Patricia Ann Hoffman of Sherman, Deborah Lynn Brandon of Troy and Charles Edward Lewis of Shelbyville; half brother, John Allison of the state Virginia; half sisters, Betty Jo Nebel of Normal, Connie Robeson of Bourbonnais and Donna Lewis of the state of Washington; 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and step-father, George Allison.
