Robert (Bob) Jay James, 84, of Shelbyville passed away at 3:00 p.m. Sunday (February 5, 2012) at Mason Point in Sullivan.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday in the Lockart-Green Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Pastor Greg Ridenhour officiating.
He was born December 5, 1927 in Argenta the son of Ira and Lydia (Harrington) James.
He served in the US Army during WW II and was honorably discharged. He was involved in construction for most of his life which was his one true love. He would help fix or build anything in their home. He enjoyed dancing every Saturday night.
Surviving are his daughters, Lanna (Jeff) Stout of Inverness, Fl and Linda (Richard) Mize of Dunnellon, FL; brother, Eugene James of Des Moines, IA; girlfriend Wanda Osbourne; 6 grandchildren, Samantha and Trinity Stout, Glen Robert and Brian Boarman and Lydia Rigsby; lifelong friend, John (Barbara) Taylor.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Leona Mae Shanholtzer.
He was a loving and caring father, grandfather and friend.
