Gerald Alfred (Jerry) Hyland, 76, of Windsor passed away at 12:50 a.m. Thursday (September 25, 2008) at his residence.
Private family graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday (September 28, 2008) in the Windsor Cemetery. There will be no funeral service or visitation. Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home, Windsor is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in his honor are suggested to the Windsor Fire Department or the Windsor Harvest Picnic Association.
Jerry was born November 16, 1931 in Shelby County, Illinois the son of J.L. and Nelle Lovins Hyland.
He is survived by his wife, Lea (Cutright) Hyland of Windsor; his sons, Lynn and wife Kate (Uphoff) Hyland of Windsor, Brad and wife Vickie (Crecco) Hyland of Bloomington, IN and Dirk and wife Donna (Sims) Hyland of Windsor; step-sons, Mike and wife Barb (Miller) Kull of Windsor andRobert Jr. and wife Lori (Galey) Kull of Gays; step-daughters, Connie and husband Charlie Meyer of Shelbyville and Sandy and husband Rick Bednar of Champaign; brother, Jake and wife Sharon Hyland of Urbana; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Jerry worked for Illinois Consolidated Telephone Company for almost 20 years and retired as a union electrician for IBEW Local 146 after 35 years of service. He was also a retired volunteer fire fighter for the Windsor Fire Department and a past volunteer for the Windsor Harvest Picnic Association.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Billie.
