Zeola M. Helton, 91, of Windsor passed away at 3:35 a.m. Sunday (November 2, 2008) in the Heartland Christian Village, Neoga.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home, Windsor with Rev. Richard Eident officiating. Visitation will be one hour before service time. Burial will be in the Helton Cemetery near Middlesworth. Memorials may be made to the Windsor Christian Church.
She was born January 20, 1917 in Oakland, the daughter of Charles William and Ferne Waters Swinford. She married Elza Helton, December 24, 1937 in Shelbyville and he preceded her in death December 26, 1992.
She was a member of the Windsor Christian Church, Eden Rebekah Lodge # 118, Windsor and the THEOS Club. She was formerly employed at the garment factory in Mattoon. She loved going to church and on the church bus trips, spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and playing cards with her friends.
Surviving are daughters, Phyllis Lovins of La Grande, OR and Doris Goodson (Mike) of Neoga; brothers, Charles Swinford of Phoenix, AZ and Theron Swinford of Mattoon; 5 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband,grandsons, Russ and Ronald Lovins, sisters, Ina Marie Hildibrand and Charlene Niel and brothers, Don, Lawrence and Norman Swinford.
