Dwight L. Friese, 73, of Effingham formerly of Stewardson passed away at 8:42 p.m. Saturday (March 6, 2010) in the Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Faith Lutheran Church, Shumway with Pastor Jason Rensner officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday in the Brummerstedt Funeral Home, Stewardson and one hour before service time Wednesday at the church. Burial will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Faith Lutheran Church or the Stewardson-Strasburg School Booster Club.
He was born July, 15 1936 in Stewardson the son of Irvin Carl and Ruby Jewell (Beals) Friese. He married Nola Marie Riggie September 5, 1963 in Midland, MI.
Dwight was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Shumway and served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was formerly employed at Norge in Effingham, the Decatur Herald and Review in printing and circulation, retiring after 30 years and Wal-Mart in Effingham. He loved going to ballgames and his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, Nola; sons, Roger Friese (Lisa) of Effingham, Todd Friese (Teri) of Gainesville, MO and A.J. Friese (Jady) of Stewardson; grandchildren, Ashley, Mitchell, Bo, Cody and Derk Friese; brothers, Kenny Friese (Sandra) and Donald Friese (Lela) all of Stewardson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Eugene Friese and wife, Arlene.
