Clarissa Flenniken
Clarissa Flenniken 106, of Shelbyville, IL, formerly Cowden, IL, passed away at 6:45 PM Saturday April 19, 2008 in the Shelby Memorial Hospital in Shelbyville.
Miss Flenniken was born Jan. 25, 1902 at Cowden, IL the daughter of Edward and Lola Zeigler Flenniken.
She attended Millikin University in Decatur, IL and graduated with honors from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston.Thirty-five years after receiving her Bachelor’s Degree, she received her Masters Degree.She taught school in Decatur and Shelbyville and retired in the 1960`s.
She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority.
She loved her dogs and was a big Illini Fan.
Surviving are cousins: Dr. Edward Tate D.D.S. and wife Rita and their children Brad, Brett, Andrea, David, Austin and Victoria and Mildred Zeigler and her childrenBarry, Tom, Charles B. and Diana; special friends: Celia Karcher and husband Ed and their daughter Christina, June Lorton and Sherry Holley and husband Steve.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A graveside service will be held at 1:30 PM Friday April 25, 2008 in Mound Cemetery, Cowden.Rev. Marlin Miller will officiate. Arrangements are by Lockart-Green Funeral Home, Cowden, IL. Memorials can be made to the Shelby County Humane Society.
