Roger Winston Fitzgerald, 81, of Lakewood passed away at 5:25 p.m. Thursday (April 2, 2009) at his residence.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville with military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard.Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the Lockart-Green Funeral Home, Shelbyville. Memorials may be made to the Shelby County Humane Society.
He was born November 18, 1927 in Pulaski, VA the son of William Winston and Myrtle Ellen (Dale) Fitzgerald. He married Norma Marilyn Bryan, July 30, 1950 in Culver, IN and she preceded him in death April 24, 1990.
He was formerly employed at P & H Manufacturing in Shelbyville. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany at the end of WW II and in the Korean War. He was a member of the VFW Post # 4829, Shelbyville.
Surviving arechildren, Christopher Fitzgerald of Shelbyville, Cheryl Lynn Fitzgerald of Sigel, Patricia Sue Brown of Lakewood and Lynelyn Fitzgerald of Brighton, CO; grandchildren, Kristel Leah Kulinsky, Winston McClain Gordon, Aaron Dale Fitzgerald, Tony Allen Gordon, Andrew David Fitzgerald and Roger Michael Fitzgerald; 20 great-grandchildren; sisters, Sue Ellen Cundiff of Dade City, FL and Alice Ann Collins of Holiday, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and son Michael Fitzgerald.
