George John Drone, 54, of Lakewood passed away at 10:50 p.m. Wednesday (October 7, 2009) at his residence, surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday at the Lockart-Green Funeral Home, Shelbyville. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Memorials may be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Research. The family requests casual attire at the service.
He was born March 2, 1955 in Decatur the son of Thomas E. Drone and Margaret Ann Keene. He married Nancy Sue Brinkoetter June 27, 1986 in Lakewood.
He was formerly employed at Kelly Foods for 18 years and was owner of Drones Construction and Electrical. He enjoyed fishing, working on cars, gardening and preserving the harvest. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Surviving arehis wife, Nancy; mother, Margaret Ann Drone-Lamm of Lakewood; son, Bill Marquis (Jackie Perry) of Cerro Gordo, grandchildren, Anthony Marquis Naron and William Lilly; daughter, Twila Funk (John) of Maroa, grandchildren, Bobbyand Tracy Funk; son, Dustin Drone (Claudette) of Lakewood; son, Adam Drone (Adrianne) of Selena, KN, grandchildren, Bobby, Levi and Zada Drone; son, Shane Drone (Debbie) of Lakewood, grandchildren, Dakota, Harley Michelle and Shane, Jr. Drone; adopted son, Joe Ford of Lakewood; brothers, Greg Drone of Texas, Bobby Jean Smart (Becky) of Decatur and Thomas E. Drone, Jr. of Florida; sisters, Theresa Pearl Martin of Lakewood and Tracey Jones of Ramsey; adopted brothers, Jimmy Drone, Joe Drone and Jeff Drone; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas E. Drone, Sr., maternal and paternal grandparents, father-in-law, Theodore W. Brinkoetter and mother-in-law, Mel Brinkoetter.
