Elvin W. Dial, 82, of Cowden passed away at 4:10 p.m. Tuesday (August 19, 2008) at Mason Point in Sullivan.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday in the Lockart-Green Funeral Home, Cowden with Rev. Darrell Hinkle officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, Cowden. Memorials may be made to Lincolnland Hospice.
He was born Feb. 6, 1926 in Marrowbone Twp., Moultrie County the son of George and Dora Logue Dial
He married Betty Stinebring Jan. 6, 1952 in Shelbyville and she passed awayOct. 4, 2000.
He served in the United State Army and retired from Fedder’s Corp. in 1988. He enjoyed gardening, watching Cub baseball and listening to country music.
Surviving sons, Joseph Dial of Stewardson and Thomas Dial of Windsor; daughter, Barbara Montague of Sullivan; 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; sisters Lucy Dilley of Cowden, Peggy Tucker of Cowden and Iola Tate of Monticello; brother, Floyd Dial of Cowden.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and two sisters, Iva Wuersch and, Leona Craig.
