Viola June Campbell 84 of Springfield, IL, formerly of Shelbyville, passed away at 3:15 AM Thursday May 21, 2009 in St. Johns Hospital in Springfield, IL
Viola was born June 8, 1924 in Oconee, IL the daughter of Clarence and Margaret Lankford Morrison.
She married George Raymond (Buck) Campbell) Mar. 6, 1945 in Pana, IL and he passed away Sept. 19, 1997.
Viola graduated from Tower Hill High School in the class of 1942.Viola was a homemaker who made a loving and caring home for her family.Formerly, she worked as a secretary for Pete Slater in Pana, IL and the Shelby County Health Dept in Shelbyville.
She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Shelbyville V.F.W. Post 4829 and attended the Christian Church.She loved flowers and cooking great food for all of her family.
Viola will be missed by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends, all whom she dearly loved.
She is survived by her children: Cheryl Kuehling and husband Paul of Leroy, IL, Nancy Hanks and husband Billy of Springfield, IL, Maribeth Rakers and husband Mark of Ohlman, IL and Gary Campbell and wife Lana of West Frankfort, IL; grandchildren: Greg Campbell and wife Stacey of Wet Frankfort,IL, Shelly Herscher and husband Josh of Gilman, IL and Shelby Rakersof Ohlman, IL; great grandchildren: Mackenzie Campbell, Gabe Campbell and Wyatt Herscher; brother and sister-in-law Herb Campbell and wife Phyllis of Shelbyville; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Buck, parents, four brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM Sunday May 24, 2009 in Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville.Brother Darrell Best will officiate.Visitation will be from 12:30 PM Sunday until time of the service.Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Memorials can be made to Tower Hill Cemetery for care of the cemetery.
