Helen Rose Briggs, 90, of Gays passed away at 12:33 p.m. Friday (August 1, 2008) in the Shelby Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday in the Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home, Windsor with Gary Finley officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Ash Grove Cemetery, Windsor. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
She was born in Moultrie County the daughter of William Converse and Rose Ann Krause Thompson. She married Oscar Don Fisher in 1937 and he preceded her in death in 1960. She then married Ralph Briggs, August 26, 1963.
She was a member of the Ash Grove Christian Church and formerly employed a cook at the Windsor Grade School.
Surviving are her husband, Ralph; son, Bill Fisher (Jeri) of Florida; daughter, Roslyn Metcalf of Neoga; brother, George Thompson of Shelbyville; sister, Mildred Morris of California; grandchildren, Mindy Chapman, Don Fisher, Brett Newell, Jim Fisher, Billy Fisher and Vicki Fisher; 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Don Fisher and sister, Dortha Mabel Havens.
